Why Work with Me
Experience That Informs the Whole Process
I bring over 25 years of experience working with college students as a teacher and academic advisor at four-year universities, including UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz.
During that time, I’ve helped students navigate complex academic requirements and understand how early planning affects long-term success. I also began my own journey in higher education at a community college — so I know this path from both personal and professional experience.
A Comprehensive Approach to Transfer Planning
Successful transfer depends on how well several pieces fit together, including general education requirements, major preparation, campus-specific criteria, and timing.
I help students and families:
-
Clarify academic and transfer goals early
-
Understand how general education and major prerequisites work together
-
Confirm that planned majors are offered at target campuses
-
Interpret transfer requirements clearly and accurately
-
Build plans that preserve options and reduce surprises
-
This approach is about making thoughtful decisions based on a full understanding of the transfer landscape.
Guidance With Integrity and Perspective
I recently retired from full-time university work and chose this consulting because I care deeply about helping families navigate a complex system to achieve their goals.
I take this work seriously — and because I’m not dependent on selling services, you won’t encounter high-pressure selling. My goal is clarity, honest guidance, and helping you decide what makes sense for your situation.
A Respectful, Supportive Process
Families come to this process at different stages. Some have a plan. Others are just beginning to ask questions.
My role is to help you think things through, understand your choices, and move forward with confidence — without judgment.
